Bath Bags

March 1, 2019

Fabric bath bags are simple to create and just as easy to use.  I like them when I don't want to use jars and they also create a fragrant and soothing bath with out any mess.  (They are like a big "tea bag" for the tub.)   Here is how I make them and you can use any natural fabric.  Even recycled fabric scraps.

Fabric Bath Bags

Cut out two pieces of fabric 6 inches by 8 inches and stitch up the two long sides and one short side to create a little bag.

Now fill your bag with your favorite bath soak or here is what I use:

1 cup Epsom salt

1/2 cup baking soda

1 tablespoon oatmeal

1 tablespoon dried herb (lavender, calendula, geranium, rose or combination)

Tie up the top with a piece of garden twine or string and store in a dry spot.  To use:  Simply drop the whole bag into the tub and let it dissolve as you fill the tub you can also use the little bag as a scrub sack to cleanse your skin.  After your bath turn inside out and compost or toss the herbs inside.  Then dry and reuse your little bag.

Yield: 12 ounces

Note:  If you don't want to sew up a bag you can also create the same fabric bath bag by cutting a large square of cloth.  Placing all the ingredients in the center and gathering up the edges and tying them up with string.
