DIY Herbal Eye Rest Pillow

I love to make my own gifts and herbal eye rest pillows are one of my favorites. These easy to make pillows filled with relaxing herbs and natural flaxseeds are soothing and relaxing and perfect for napping. Because the flaxseeds give the pillows a bit of "weight" they shape to your face and help block out light and the scent of lavender (you can also use other favorite relaxing scents) helps you unwind.

Here are my directions but feel free to make them your own. Experiment with shapes and the amount of filling.

Materials needed:

2 pieces of natural fabric like cotton or silk, 9 inches by 4 inches

1 cup of flaxseeds

1 Tablespoon of organic lavender

Directions:

  1. With right sides together stitch around your fabric rectangles. You can do this by hand or with a sewing machine. If you really don't want to sew you could try a good quality fabric glue. Make sure to leave an inch opening on one end for filling.

  1. Turn your pillow inside out, Press with an iron.

  2. Using a small Kitchen funnel add your flaxseeds and lavender. I usually add half the flaxseeds, lavender then the rest of the flaxseeds but it really does not matter.

  1. Stitch the opening on your pillow closed and gently give it a shake to mix the flaxseeds and lavender.

  2. Add a ribbon or cute label if you are giving as a gift.

To use: Lie down with your eyes closed and place your eye pillow over your eyelids. Relax

You are beautiful!
